32 hours of Vista

It all began with the MojaveExperiment ... the site is too bussy for anyone to visit... but made me just a little bit interested into trying out Vista for my self...

So late saturday night (1-3 am), i choose to try out Vista on my Laptop. A decent machine i'd say:

  • Intel Core 2 Duo T7200, 2ghz 4MB cache
  • 2x 1024 MB DDR2 PC5300
  • Nvidia Geforce GO 7600 / 512 DDR3
  • 7200rpm Hitachi 100GB HDD

The version of Vista: Business 32bit.

First, i had to move my partitions using Partition Magic from 12gb to 21gb on C: (because Vista is hungry!)  (this i began about at 11pm prior to installation)

okay - i then Ghosted my current installation of WindowsXP and all the installed programs.. just in case...

Now to the reboot - installation - first boot... there its installed...

I then slepted until 9-10 AM and downloaded the updated Vista drivers and INF's... Strangely enough: every 10-20 seconds the machine lags - the mouse wont respond ??

I continue, installing FF3 and some other stuff... and all in all, im not satisfied with the performance...  :-(

the lagging continues, and on monday at about 12AM i ghost back to WinXP pro!...

Vista is good for one thing though... Desktop Wallpapers !! :-D

i couldn't work out how to add a comment. the outlines around the textboxes are really faint on my monitor.

WRT vista, I was really put off by the bad press. Then I bought a laptop with it preinstalled and I actually quite like it.

I'd buy anpther machine with vista preinstalled - but I wouldn't bother trying to get vista to work on an existing machine- I think there are still driver issues out there.
