Chrome with Salt and Sugar

Okay... its now about 2 weeks after Google released their beta version of Google Chrome. I ofcause downloaded it and installed it on all my computers, including at work. All of these PC's run Windows XP SP3 and at first Chrome really shined compared to FF2 and IE6-7-8.

Chromed Bugs !?

After a few days i found out that Windows starts to lag and behave strange Surprised

  • Mouse stops while moving
  • Keyboard stops taking input
  • Programs pause

I noticed that all this stops the moment i close Chrome Frown

Furthermore i noticed later on, that when starting Chrome, my HDD tick insanely!

Debugging in Chrome

The Chrome commandline is somewhat useful, only because it support console.log that Firebug uses. using a command line to debug JS errors is not good enough im afraid.

The "Inspector" reminds me of Firebug, but not nearly as powerful...

IE8 also come with a new Developer tool, which is a little more useful, but so frustrating to use

I guess  Firebug just sets a standard that noone other has lived up to yet...

Googling Chrome

Eventhough i'm experiencing strange behaviors, I still wanted to make my Editor support Chrome. But finding what you need tend to be ridicolous !

I Googled: "Chrome Event Wheel" and found a lot of pages about Motocycle, Chrome wheels, Motorcycle Event... but not much about Javascript

Mozilla uses Chrome as a name for one of the engines in Firefox - thus resulting in a lot of "Firefox Chrome" hits. "Chrome <whatever>" also hits a lot of Firefox pages.

Google is in this case, not very smart... naming it Broogle (Browser by Google) or Gloog might have helped people getting more distinct results.

Edit 2009

Most if not all issues with chrome has been solved !

Chrome is the best browser in many aspects, but Silverlight couse a bit trouble
